Such a beautiful island. How many people live there? Does anyone know if more live on the south coast than elsewhere?

A bit off-subject but, anyone remember Operation Urgent Fury. Involved that little island also.

St. George's is on the southwest side of the island. That's the capital.

Total island population is just over 100,000.

Here's a breakdown by city/area of the most heavily populated: St. George's 4,400, Gouyave 3,200, Grenville 2,100 (1991).

Your refering to Urgent Fury? 1983 and it was when Cubans had taken several US medical students hostage and the USSR had a large runway there so the Marines went in and kicked some booty.

Reports are starting to filter out of there and (as expected) it's not looking good: lots of roofs off and 3 fatalities so far... The Grenadines closest to Grenada's north would certainly have sustained tremendous damage since they would have been in or near to the northern eyewall.

BTW, Tobago also suffered some damage: roofs off etc.

Edit: Judging from the latest satellite pix, it looks like the northern section of Grenada is where the northern eyewall passed over.

Any chance anyone knows when we might get a wind report, either sustained or gusts, out of Grenda??

Looks like they may have been in 120 mph+...
