Fox News 'Hyping' Fla Landfall for Ivan...

Ok it's too early to tell but why is Fox News 'hyping' a Fla landfall for Ivan. I see no reason to get people all worked up over nothing. Sad to say, but Fox is always being over dramatic. At this point, Fla is no more likely to be hit than Central America.

well the 5pm official advisory had a bullseye on south florida.....what else are they to do?

Remember it is late and they normally repeat programming on all of the news channels in the evening unless there is something major going on.

well...its not exactly been out THAT long!!

i agree though....foxnews and all the other media should stick to carchases and political bashings this far from landfall

While Floridians need to be prepared for the possibility..Hey I was buying plywood 7 days ago.
It's just too raw!
We still are having fistfights at gas stations.
I don't think that any media outlet should be talking about FL landfall more than 4 days out, at this point.

It's not just Fox News. Everywhere you look, they're saying it "could" hit Florida and NHC did show it as a bullseye. The media won't ignore that. Fox News did a great job covering Frances...I definitely got more/better coverage from them than TWC.

TWC has been hyping it too. I believe Jeff Morrow referred to Ivan as a "black cloud on the horizon" for Floridians. Doesn't get much more hyped than that. :roll:

One problem here in Florida is it has been hard to get any work done with all these hurricanes. They need to stop the hype so people can get back to work and be productive again.

Man does not live by hurricanes alone, we need to earn some $$$.

Every station locally is saying Ivan is on a Charley type track and we need to stay vigilent. Most of us will be lucky to have time to replenish our supplies and get some gasoline before the next event. I for one, am glad that the "hype" is there. At the most, it will get people to make preparations for another hit, and at the least, it will cause a big sigh of relief.

Believe it or not,I even heard someone (maybe it was on Fox) refer to Ivan as "Ivan The Terrible" :roll:

Given the fact that the 5am NHC track map shows Ivan heading in the direction of Florida's west coast,I don't see any harm in mentioning it as a possibility,but to say FLorida's going to get smacked again is alittle irresponsible

One day people complain there isn't enough hurricane coverage, the next day it is too much hype. Will there ever be a happy medium for some folks?

to much coverage is better than none.

keeps people alert of a potential threat.

There is always the option of changing the channel, should one find the programming irritating.
