Talk about unintended humor!!

Everyone realizes this is a serious situation, but that translation surely had to put a smile on your face - no matter how serious things are, or may become.....

That Babelfish Transation nearly killed me so I have translated it properly. I keep forgetting that many Americans, with Mexico and Cuba next door, can't speak Spanish as well as we do in Australia, with Papua New Guinea and New Zealand, next door.

Bah *Laughs* The translation was hilarious- and I got the gist of the advisory in spanish (that's what my 4 years of spanish got me.. the ability to piece together an advisory)

I'm sure there are a couple others who could have translated it... but the babelfish was too much fun ;)

ETA: HOWEVER, Thank you very very much for the clear translation :)

I am So LAZY

#15 Postby paulvogel » Mon Sep 06, 2004 9:47 pm

I use babelfish because I was a lazy student who never bothered to learn spanish.
When I use it to converse with my friends in Argentina, they prefer I use english.
The babelfish computer uses strictly LITERAL word for word translation.
You cant really do that and expect to remain succunct.

In english, a celebrity who is getting more famous is a "rising star"
In Quebecois French they are a "speeding moterboat"

If you were quebecois, you would get the same meaning.

so go ahead, laugh at the "burst of wind" But I think that is a wonderful description of a hurricane. And that is how the spanish speakers are reading it.

Paul

By the way, I think Venezuela need not worry.
