They are still basing it on the Easterly track. If NHC shifts West at 5:00 then the local news will talk Hurricane Force winds.

yep, not good if we get eyewall. All depends on how fast it is moving too. 15 mph or greater we'll get hit good. Less than 10 mph not so bad.

May be just a wobble, but last 3 frames are damned near due west. It's already south and west of the track issued only an hour ago.

Ok that is what I was wondering. I will wait till 5 am to see what I am doing. We live in a before Andrew (1984) mobile home in Pasco county. Was trying to decide what to do. Thanks all I may have a few more newbie questions later. I have to say my animals are acting VERY strange already. Dogs are digging HUGE hole under shed ( never done before) and want out of the house instead of in (where they always are). Wonder if they are trying to tell us something? When they were saying Charley was going to hit here they didn't do that.

Guys im getting kind of nervous. I was out walking with my friends and they were talking about how cool it would be if it hit, but im not so sure. I would feel better if I went a bit inland, since im 3 miles from the ocean, 2 from the Intracoastal, and a few hundred yards from a major creek. But it looks like my family is planning on riding this out, like most of my friends are.

they are DEFINITLY telling you something.... If my dog started digging holes with a cat 4 hurricane aiming at my state, i would start preparing/researching what my options were to get to safety....good luck and be careful!

You seem to be pretty close to the inlet. I've heard stories from old coast guard auxiliary guys at the Jupiter inlet lighthouse about storm surge coming quite aways. Keep on eye on it. And yes you are definitely right, I am most likely screwed outta any supplies such as wood. I May have to borrow plywood from my smarter friends who adequately prepared.

For those of you in Jupiter, FL I suggest (as I'm sure you are) keeping a very close eye on the track of this storm. If this thing does end up being a cent Fl event and the landfall is near Jupiter I wouldn't suggest riding this thing out if your that close to the coast (3 miles).

NOt saying this is going to happen but just for example lets say you were in the northern eyewall of a 140-145mph Frances. Well, then you could expect 13-18ft storm surge. Of course you'd know the sea level layout of Jupiter more than me but being 3 miles from the coast and 2 miles from the IC waterway to me makes it seems you're probably at best 10-15ft above sea level. WOuldn't be fun to be in the dark with 3-5ft or more water in your house. Not to mention with this storm wind damage is also another factor and widespread, severe damage of most houses are going to occur. Especially right near the coast since all those winds are coming off the water meaning they wouldn't have had anything to obstruct them beforehand. Again this is just a scenario and I figured I'd point out what could happen since I'm hearing so many talking about possibly riding out this storm in their houses etc. near the coast and all. Not a very good move my friend.

As of the track right now, I'm very close to the eye coming Saturday. I live in Palm Bay. About 11 miles inland. I'm not evacuating, my husband being a police officer and having to stay, Im staying too. I've got everything prepared to the best lf my ability i.e. storm shutters, water, canned foods, propane and all the essentials. No matter where you live right now, you need to be vigilent, but you also need to show some patience. The track may change or may not. There is nothing we or anyone can do to change the direction of this monster. It's very difficult to look at these models when the "eye" is coming directly over your house, which is what I have been seeing since last night. But still nothing we can change. Just be vigilent, but show patience. This is going to be a difficult weekend for everyone.
