Amateur Radio (ARES/RACES) Post-Strike Mutual Assistance

#1 Postby SkywarnKR4YO » Wed Sep 01, 2004 7:39 pm

Looking for any FL hams that are emergency communicators, particularly in the Patrick AFB/Cape Canaveral/Broward County area (I'm an active-duty AF officer and it's a question of leave versus temporary duty, if I support Patrick/CCAS it's duty) but will go anywhere I can help. I think you guys are going to need external help after this thing and I'd like to find out who to coord/plan with ahead of time. Can bring self-sustaining HF/VHF/UHF plus four-wheel capability for at least a 5 to 7 day period.

I've got 23 years of emergency comms experience, including 4 tropical systems in VA, FL, and GA (including Gloria, Georges, and Opal), and have an EC tour under my belt, just so you can be assured I'm not some clueless dude that just wants to get into a disaster zone. If you're aware of a good person to contact, please let me know.

Please post to the forum or contact me at kr4yo@arrl.net . I have no problem making phone calls.

73 and good luck,
KR4YO
