The public can be so ignorant!

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

The public can be so ignorant!

#1 Postby FritzPaul » Wed Sep 01, 2004 6:24 pm

I just saw the local news here in N.O. The reporters were at the airport when they interviewed a grandmother, grandfather, and granddaughter who were getting ready to board a plane to go to Disney World. When asked, the daughter said "I'm not afraid of a hurricane." The grandparents said, "We have been planning this trip for months and do not want to break their daughter's heart."

I think it would have been better to break her heart here in N.O. than to break it down in Orlando, and possibily break something else there.

People thinking like this makes me think of the people who had a "hurricane" party at a beach front house along the MS coast during Camille.

wow. thats not the brightest idea. i have a relative in daytona that is having a wedding saturday morning. they told me it was indoors at a church, they'd be fine. sometimes people can say and do some pretty ignorant things. these storms should obviously not be ignored.

These morons are in big time denial. They will be the first to complain about not knowing a hurricane was coming and want their money back.....MGC

Sort of like my in-laws in Orlando who said that they do not get hurricanes in Orlando. I think Charley changed thier mind.

I was at Publix tonight stocking up on hurricane food, like 80% of people in the store, and saw the clerk behind the fish counter talking to a woman buying some shrimp. He asked her if she was preparing for the storm. She said, with no sense of irony, "What storm?" He said, "You know, Frances, the huge storm about to hit Florida?" To which she replied, "Oh, I hope not," and walked away.

I can't believe people are so ignorant! This is life or death, people!

I was at Wallyworld this afternoon and ask an older lady if she was ready for the hurricane. She shrugged and said that Charley didn't bother them much and they were leaving it in the Lord's hands. I agreed that I was doing that also but, I also remembered the joke about the Lord sending a man who was trapped on a roof during a flood a rowboat. She didn't get it.

I live in the center of the state just above Lake Okeechobee and on a canal to boot. There is no way short of this thing going into GA that we are not going to see some problem.

Take care all.

BTW, can Mickey Mouse's ears withstand 140 mph winds?

LoL some people just crack me up.

That lady at Wallyworld is a few weeks behind huh? She thinks it's Charlie out there lol.

I was supposed to go to Flordia this Labor Day weekend. Seems it's been called off.
