In all seriousness

#1 Postby btsgmdad » Wed Sep 01, 2004 6:07 pm

I want to start this post by saying that I am not a veteran of any hurricanes. I live hundreds of miles from where they hit. However at this time I feel it is important to remember a few things.

1) Frances is a Category 4 Hurricane capable of extensive to extreme damage.

2) Typical storm surge from such a system can be almost 3X my height (I'm 6' 3")

3) Hurricanes are gigantic storms which affect large areas, not a single point.

I seriously hope all our friends on this board both old and new are making the necessary preparations to secure their property now. I even more seriously hope that all of you in the path of this storm get to safety ASAP. Don't try to ride it out, please. I wouldn't want to lose any of my new found friends.

Keep safe and you all are in our prayers. :) :) :)

Thanks for the good wishes, BT. I only know of one neighbor that plans to ride this out in Cape Canaveral (barrier island), but I think we'll have him convinced by tomorrow.

my neighbor won't leave either...they have several kids... I think the Brevard County Sheriff will convince them. Seabrz...when are you leaving? I am leaving tonight.
