I have a hunch this one will be Ivan and the name give sme the willes lol. We have to watch this one.

It EXACTLY means that this is a Tropical Depression AT LEAST...

I only see one thing and that is that the LLC is still a little too broad with no defined west wind. However, it is getting close and it's ONLY a matter of time before we see a monster come out of this...

It means that dating back to I believe 1998, the "I" storm has grown to be very intense and a couple of those making landfall with the most recent being Isabel. Basically it is just a trend some have noted and thats why Ivan could be a big one- no science behind it though.

40 knots is 45 mph which would mean it's a tropical storm already. LONG LONG LONG way from land though. 5-7 days from the Islands...

Models put it on a west track,as a threath to the lesser antillies.Wait and see.
Hope all the friends in the areas threathened by Frances are taking all preparations to face such a monster.
After seing a lot of hurricanes,i can tell how it is important to take all precautions well in advence,because things are worsening very quickly when a hurricane is coming.
Really,it's beter when the winds,rain and seas begun their dance,that ,at this time,you had only a thought:protection...............

Haven't looked at satellite of the region just yet, but if QUIKSCAT is of an UNCONTAMINED reading, folks, it's already a tropical storm ...

Looks like this one could certainly be an island threat. After that, near the 10th, a trough will be establishing itself in the eastern US, so the storm will either sneak under it, or be pulled up and out to sea. Long way out, but should be interesting.

WOW. IVAN. That is just a scary name. But hopefully if the trough that is way off develops it will get pulled north.
