Half an hour ago I had a second hand report that Hurricane force winds were hitting Grand Turk and that the power had been turned off. Whether it was by design or as a result of the winds I don't know but probably the former.

Well its official... Hurricane Frances wiped the Turks and Caicos Islands from the face of the earth this afternoon. There are no reports coming from the area to deny this but it is confirmed by the NOAA pic of the day which has Hurricane Frances in the approximate position of where Grand Turk should be.... IF THE CARTOGRAPHER AT NOAA HAD BOTHERED TO CHECK. (grin) :) :grrr

http://www.osei.noaa.gov/OSEIiod.html nice photo.
Also e-mailed them to let them know of the demise of our islands.
