What has happened to GFDL?

It has not performed well with Francis. They made mention of it in the 1100 discussion. Looks like they are not even considering it for the current run. Any thoughts?

For various reasons, some models never get a grip with some systems. The GFDL did pretty well with Charley, but hasn't with Frances.
