For the first time..

#1 Postby LaBreeze » Tue Aug 31, 2004 10:30 pm

For the first time, I heard two of our local mets. mention the possibility of Frances heading a bit further south than predicted. Both mentioned also the possibility of a second hit in the Florida Panhandle. Anyone else hearing this tonight?

That's what Bob Breck in NOLA said tonight, and last night.

Are these mets giving any indication of which part of the panhandle? I would think it would be Destin or points eastward.

There's no way anybody can speculate with much certainty about that right now. Heck, they're having a hard enough time figuring out where she'll make landfall. To try to guess what she's going to do once she makes landfall is just too much right now.

CFL, it seemed like they just pointed to the Panhandle in general. No specifics.

Just the panhandle is all Breck said.

I know stats are sometimes meaningless, but many of the historical hurricanes that battered Florida in the 20's, 30's, and 40's followed a very similar path as Frances. Most of them ( but not all ) did come ashore in South Florida.
