NHC News Conference

#1 Postby pavelbure224 » Tue Aug 31, 2004 3:05 pm

NHC will be having a news conference at 4:50 pm est. It seems weird that the NHC will be have a news conference when Frances is still over 1000 miles away unless they might be putting up some watches for the US.

I think they are discussing emergency preparations for folks in Florida, and address the fact that Frances will be a cat 5 cane soon

For those in the Miami area, I believe WFOR will be having that NHC news conference at 4:50. Bryan Norcross was just on and he showed a graphic indicating that Frances has sped up and S FL could feel its effects earlier.

Max Mayfield is saying that South Florida is not out of the woods yet and that So Fl to Carolinas could get hit by the storm and talking about an new instrument that noaa is using for checking wind speeds on the surface

WOW.. your really stuck on that 90/10 rule, I hope your correct.

Andrew was enough for anyone in a single life time. Although your prediction is based on gut feeling, unverified statistical numerology or whatever one is calling -removed- today… the real and unfortunate truth is that SOMEONE, either us in Florida or others in another state up the US coast will have to deal with this monster, pray for US or THEM.

NHC spokesperson stated that watches/warnings will likely be up Wed PM, however failed to give more detail only that both Florida coastline are in consideration for , it could infact include sections of the Peninsula Gulf coast.
Even if the storm misses there may be a need for a mandatory "drill" and all of the hassle of a large scale evacution, which is always costly and hurtful to the regional economy.

After seeing what happened with Charley, economic inconvenience is better than loss of life. I hope they give everyone more than ample time to get out, particularly the Keys and Mobile Home residents.

The conference was a yawner. Nothing you couldn't read in the discussion.
