I just got done watching my 3 big stations local 12pm newscasts and honestly.. I'm kinda worried now..
All 3 basically said "The storm is headed to North Florida or SC or NC"..
They did warn that the track can and probably will be shifted south again or anywhere else on the map.
The woman on Channel 2 just about said we're in the clear.. The guy on channel 6 basically said so too and the Channel 9 met is the 1 who mentioned the statement I said above about the tracks..
I personally think we are nowhere near in the clear and might even still be in Frances' bulls eye..
Just my 2 cents
Local mets giving false sense of security to us here...

Well, I'd have to disagree with you. I live in Orlando and I think that the newscasters already have this area in panic mode. We have two more days before we know whether or not it's going to hit central Florida.
I've seen two local mets who reported the change to the track but cautioned that we're too far out to know definitively where the storm is going. After Charley, I hardly think many central Floridians will let their guard down....

Me, too!

The Channel 2 woman (Amy ~ pregnant met, can't remember her last name) said that the track was actually shifted to the right of the model she was pointing to, that it would probably shift more and *that* would be good news for Central Florida.

The feeling I got after hearing her report was one of, "Oh, I guess I don't need to worry about this at all! What a relief!" Now, I KNOW that that is not the case, so I'm not letting my guard down, but what about everyone else who watches these news programs and believe them to be gospel?
Oh, also, the Channel 2 met saying that we wouldn't get hit until Saturday or Sunday, IF we did at all...........what is up with that? I thought this was a Saturday landfall.....when did Sunday come into play? Is Frances expected to slow down or something?
Overall, I thought the mets gave too confident a report and made it sound like there's nothing to be concerned about. I find that unsettling.
