Everything fine in St Maarten

#1 Postby msbee » Tue Aug 31, 2004 8:53 am

Hurricane Frances did us nothing.
At my house just outside Philipsburg on the Southern side of the island, there was hardly any rain and even less wind
I see swells in Philipsburg harbor.
I spoke to a friend(schmita) in Simpson Bay who said around 5:30 AM they were awakened by howling wind and heavy rain. it lasted maybe 35 minutes she said.
Now just cloudy skies, slightly breezy, maybe some on and off rain showers.
I'm trying to call my staff so we can open for business.
I don't know about the seas. I assume there are heavy Northern swells. I also assume Marigot and grand case on the North side of the island might have gotten more wind and rain
but, in general, Frances was a bust, thank God
I've seen worse weather from just a regular old front moving through.
I hope PR fares as well as we did

That is great news Barbara that anything bad happened and let's see how all goes here if it will be the same as ST Marteen.
