Brand New GFDL shifts east, landfall SC

I have two major holes in my roof, I'm getting an inch of water in my kitchen when it rains every day (and that's without any wind .. imagine what a 120mph wind will do to the tarps that are keeping some of the rain out). We had no power for almost a next week, my business had to be closed due to lack of power for ten days (I lost a *LOT* of money), and getting gas was next to impossible for that week. Now I'm in the crosshairs just like you. I am surrounded by large trees (the ones that are left anyway). We don't need this storm!!

If I were to move, I think it will be somewhere like Colorado. I love snow and snow skiing (just don't like driving to work on ice). I prefer the mountains and cold weather to the beach and constant, oppressive, debilitatingly humid heat! And I haven't seen any Hurricanes approaching the borders of Colorado recently!

You haven't seen the "Day after Tomorrow"? Come up to my place in Lakeland. Not sure it will be much safer....

Having just got my power back from Gaston and my roof still leaking (and I'm in the middle of a 3 story apartment complex!) I am one South Carolina person that is hoping that model "fishes" the next run. I know it's not going to... and somebody's going to get it, but with Charley and Gaston, I think we've already had our fair share...

What is safe? Driving on freeways? Walking across the street? Eating apples? Living where it might hurricane, tornado, earthquake, drought us out? Tonight I sit in Maryland, with my friends (long time St. Croix residents, but here now because we have to be) laughing at me glued to this board and other boards, wondering if my little home will be there when I get back. Called my girlfriend who took my tupperware tubs to her cement house and gave it up to whatever happens happens...I chose to live where I live fully aware of the risks and no matter what happens, the survivors will go on. Maybe because I am here to deal with the death of man who lived life full tilt boogie I feel more sanguine about this, but one thing he used to tell me on St. Croix, every summer, was...MJ, you can't stop it, you can only be ready. He went through the loss a huge hurricane can do, and still looked at life as the biggest joy ride in the world...in his honor, I'll try to give a tenth of that and consider it a good effort. I can only wish any of us in the danger zones prayers of safety and good spirits.
