I've just been here a couple of days, since I got spooked by Frances. I forgot how easy Pay Pal was. It took me about 1 minute to send some $ to keep the site working well. Wish I had known about you guys when Charlie hit here. LCW

Thanks so much for everyone's contribution and kind words! Every penny will be spent making this site even better. Just bear with us through the rough times for the next day or so and we'll get the server stabilized as much as we can. We'll try and stay on top of the server so when it does hiccup we'll get it back running as soon as possible. :-)

Can ya share what this server's specs are? I'm surprised it's having so many problems already with it being so new.

The issue is that we've never had 400 people on-laine at once :-) We're currently running with 1 GB of RAM but we're adding another 1/2 GB as soon as we can. It's already ordered and we're just waiting on the installation. We'll go down hard when that happens but it shouldn't take very long to get it back up and running. Other than that we're on a Pentium IV 2.x Mhz machine.

Sounds like a good processor then. AFAIK phpBB isn't that much of a resource hog RAMwise (but then again I've never really worked with it, I use one of its arch rivals... :P ).

There ya go! Now, use the money to send Frances on a one-way trip to the Azores.

Took the challenge Galveston Duck, from one Galvestonian to another. We really do need to help particularly since Texas has been lucky so far....

The donations have been wonderful! Thanks to everyone for the outpouring of support! We'll put every penny donated to work on the site. We do this as a labor of love (and because we're hurricane freaks) but you all have made it worthwhile with the comments and non-critical support. It's very very much appreciated!

Hi Chad:

Thanks for your help on the technical board. Anyway, I've donated to the cause under my husband's Paypal account (S Pullen). Thanks!
