If Frances gets to Cat 5 strength in the bahamas, she might resist any weakness and continue moving west north west.
Floyd was picked up by a big trough, not a weakness.
I think the models may be underestimating this tendancy of large powerful hurricanes and Florida will be in big trouble when the projected turn doesn't happen.
Remember how Floyd gave everyone a huge scare in South Florida when it didn't turn as soon as forecasters said it would?
Remember a Cat 5 storm can build its own environment
