Hard to decide what to do???
I have the same problem every time in this situation. I can't concentrate on anything except the storm. I have trouble going to work and being away from the computer. I come straight home and see what's happened since I left. I planned to buy supplies today and then decided to wait, and now I wish I had bought them. I become so wishy washy in the face of a possible huge storm that I wind up getting nothing done. Anyone else like this?

Me too...
New to site! gREAT SITE!
I just delt with Cherly's wrath...my family was without power for 6 days...had lots of damage in neihgborhood and now I sit here with Frances and I just don't know what to do. I think I will go out tommorrow and stock up AGAIN!! I just can't imagine going through this again...only weeks apart. My kids will not deal well...neither will the parents if this Hurricane hits us...I pray it goes in another direction...I truly respect nature now!

Too early to tell at this point. The best thing to do is stay up to date. One thing that is guaranteed, if you wait until the official order is given to evacuate, you will move at the speed of a turtle gettting out. Also, pay close attention to the projected path of the storm, you don't want to get caught in it's path inadvertently, while sitting on the turnpike!

indeed
we were not suppose to get a direct hit but Charley decided to take its turn early...had no time to really prepare...I can't let this happen again.
If this storm hits us again...there will be major damage! We still haven't recovered from CHarley!

I am new to this site as well....love it! I am also one of those kind of strange critters (no offense to anyone!) that kind of hopes it gets close to us. I am in Geneva, close to Titusville and the Cape. Not directly on the coast, maybe 40miles inland.
Had no power for 3 1/2 days after Charley, and I have a well, so no water as well....yuck.
I figure if this one gets close enough, I may go to a shelter. I live in a house that is over 100 years old. Charley came from the other coast, the east coast is just to close for comfort!!

honest
To be completely honest, I love this stuff. I love the water vapor loops, looking for trends, love reading the posts. I love trying to figure out what it's going to do, then see where I was right and where I was wrong.

Hey sunnyday...the probability of storms used to become my "new top priority" whenever they seemed on the horizon. I could easily waste a whole weekend just thinking about the storm, watching the latest satellite pictures, and just getting caught up in it.
I've discovered that making lists...and checking them twice...is a good way to at least keep from getting bogged down.
Have your list of weather-related tasks...and then your personal ones. Even small tasks can be on the lists. You need to accomplish them, and then cross them off and move on.
Good luck with trying to be productive. Last time I REALLY felt that way was after 9/11. Couldn't concentrate on anything for the longest time.
Hang in there, and good luck!

I have to say that at first it was kind of exciting when Charley got close becuase I'd never been through a big storm and even though we were inland we still got 100mph winds...it was beautiful but fierce. As soon as the power went out and the oak crash on our roof I began to get scared. The doors and windows made terrible sounds...then I went to the closet with the kids and really wished the storm would leave but the worst part of the storm was being without ac and having to hunt down ice everyday. Oh, and my son got heat rash and an ear infection...so now I'm re -thinking the whole Hurricane excitement thing and am leaning more towards the Hurricane respect frame of mind. I have a giant pine in the back yard that almost went with Charley and if Frances hits my house is in trouble...it is impossible to get a roofer or anyone else for that matter out to your house to have repairs done. SOOO, no, I will "hopefully" watch France's greatness from afar. MY FINGERS CROSSED.
