8th named storm this month a modern record

#1 Postby tropicana » Sun Aug 29, 2004 4:28 pm

Even in 1995, which was by any standards a very active year, August that year had only 7 named storms actually form that month... FELIX to LUIS. Since ERIN was already named and around by August 1st that year.

This year, ALEX was named on August 1st, and so we have had [b]8 named storms
form this month--ALEX to HERMINE, at least a modern day record for August, and possibly any month.

No. They began issueing advisories on TD 1 in July. So Alex is considered a July store. Only 7 named storms have formed this month.
