Looks to have gone through some rapid intensification today. If it's not a TS at 5 it will be at 11. They have just sent out another recon, presumably to check this one out. I fully expect them to find a TS w/ an eyelike feature. I also think this will effect land. It will probalby have some interesting interactions with Gaston, but the ridge should push it westward. Could be a problem for MD/DE/NJ but I think a TS watch is going out for GA/SC/NC. Either option seems viable right now

If it makes landfall in NC then my guess would be mostly a rain event. That is NOT good news as I sit here with the 5th tornado warning of the day, and still witing on Gaston. Point is 4-5 inches of rain, followed by more rain from TD8, will not take much wind to bring down a lot of trees i.e. Frances or a near miss.
I think i'll go back in my bunker....

I too worry about the amount of rain and the chance of Frances even if it is a near miss at this point, woudn't take much at all to knock down trees as saturated as our grounds are and will be here. I didn't know there were 4-5 tornadoe warnings, my 2 yr old must had been watching a movie or something. I need to pay more attention. I knew of two warnings. I worry more about it as the night goes on. I just hate to have things happen when it is dark and you can't see anything. Apparently it will be late tonight and wee hours of the a.m. when rain and storms will be at it's here from what I have understood.
