Anyone heard of Skip Waters?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Anyone heard of Skip Waters?

Local meteoroligst for eastern NC.

http://www.wcti12.com. They do a streaming forcast. If he's on forcasting a landfalling hurricane sometime, or even better a chance of snow watch him, it can be quite funny even in such a serious situation.

SKIPPPYYYYYY!!! *does the skippy dance* My hubby loves Skippy :) and I met him once when my daughter was in cheerleading down there and was performing at a fair he was at. VERY VERY VERY nice man... answered several questions my daughter had. Just fantastic with children. And ya just gotta love when he puts on his rainbow sweater...and we can care less why he wears them too! As you can tell he's one of my fav mets.

I remember vividly the night that he told us we were going to have a cold rain maybe some flurries. It was around December 19-20th 1989. We proceeded to have something like 3 feet of snow, snow drifts going up the side of the house, etc.

Skip Waters!

#4 Postby Carolina_survivor » Sat Aug 28, 2004 2:34 pm

I love Skip Waters!

He's the only local meterologist we've got who will go out on a limb and tell you what HE thinks will happen to a storm, rather than just reporting what most anyone can find out with a basic Google search.

He is kinda funny, but when there's bad weather on the way, I always switch over to see what Skip has to say.

Very true. I'm not trying to knock him for stating what he thinks. I commend him for that. It just gets funny because he's had a few more spectacular miscalculations then amazing insights. But I do commend him for sticking to his guns, with the way the NHC is these days we need that.

I believe that I heard on the radio this week that he was recently arrested for DWI.

Are you serious? I'll have to call home and ask. That would be quite the scandal, almost as big as another one the locals will remember and I won't go into..... lol.

Oh well, he's still a good meteorologist and a good guy.
