This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

A tropical storm watch may be required for northern islands

#1 Postby cycloneye » Sat Aug 28, 2004 3:58 pm

A TROPICAL STORM WATCH MAY BE REQUIRED FOR PORTIONS OF THE NORTHERN
LEEWARD ISLANDS ON SUNDAY.

The 5 PM advisory says so and I agree after the turn to a more west track has commensed.

I agree Cycloneye. Perhaps by 11pm the NHC will have talked to the folks in the islands about watches being posted.

They need to issue a watch for them so we can start getting intermediate advisories on Frances.

That's not the only reason. Look how far out those tropical storm force winds extend.

Depending on when that turn happens, a HURRICANE Watch may be required.

Advisory and Watches

#7 Postby schmita » Sat Aug 28, 2004 4:35 pm

I just called a friend here on island. I asked how would we know if there was an advisory issued. She said they get their info from TWC !!
She also believes we are under storm watch now. Her husband is an ATC. She will call the tower and ask and let me know.

There is no Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watch anywhere. If there was, the NHC would have it in the advisory.
