This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Has anyone ever heard of this site?
http://hurricane.weathercenter.com/

It seems to show Frances missing Miami and hitting the East coast....

Not to me. Its basicly the national hurricane center forecast track. To me florida is still the highest possibility for landfall right now.

Thanks lilbump. I just thought maybe farther North in Fl than Miami, than what some of the charts seem to show. Do you think that is a big possiblity? :?:

I'm really new to all of this, but I guess what I was looking at is the red hurricane they show and it seems like it would go farther up the coast. Thanks for all of the patience here!

You were looking at the projected path for Gaston instead of Frances. The site is a little confusing. The website is the Tampa Tribune I believe.

cape_escape,

The site you showed (http://www.tbo.com) is the combination site for the Tampa Tribune and WFLA (Channel 8).

"Is it a site to be trusted?"

Yes, tbo.com is as good as any at forecasting, and particularly sensitive to those living in or near Tampa Bay.

Personally, I only trust my eyes on the radar and my nose to thewind.....but that may be because I was born in FLA and grew up during the strong hurricane years of the 50's.
