Question for prof mets

#1 Postby EDR1222 » Sat Aug 28, 2004 10:57 am

I noticed the latest forecast discussion talks about Gaston possibly having an impact on the track of Francis. Since Gaston will most likely be out of the picture in a couple days, is it possible the ridge may actually strengthen further with a departing low pressure system to the north? I was recently reading something about how lows and highs feed each other to some degree. Is this correct? And will the other low closer to Bermuda have an effect?

Thanks

Yes...if Gaston and 8 move through and then zip out to the NE...the ridge will build back to the west in response.
