Is it just me...

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

I for one think it does, albeit still in the formative stages. I especially "like" seeing the low level clouds NW of the system wrapping into what appears to be a broad center of circulation. Upper level outflow looks pretty good. I think this will be an official depression by day's end, early tomorrow at the latest.

Even if this thing makes landfall in 24-36 hours, we could see fairly rapid spin-up with outflow being so good...meaning a named storm with moderate tropical storm force winds...at least...

I'm seeing spin - but I always get hung up between mid-and low-level spins....so who knows.

Did I read that this thing is drifting SW? Would that continue? Any thoughts?

LOL! Exactly my thoughts. This is almost exactly where Alex formed as well. What is it with the SC/NC coast this year? Alex, Charley, and now this are passing through that area.

It has a weak LLC.

ANOTHER LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OFF THE COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA...
CENTERED ABOUT 115 MILES SOUTHEAST OF CHARLESTON...IS DRIFTING
SLOWLY SOUTHEASTWARD. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAVE ALSO
INCREASED AND BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED WITH THIS SYSTEM...AND A
TROPICAL DEPRESSION COULD DEVELOP DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO BEFORE
THE SYSTEM TURNS WESTWARD TOWARD THE U.S. COAST.

animate the shot above and it looks like a well formed cyclone.

With cold front moving in this weekend could be a nice rainmaker for most of the coast from Ga northward. Alex strengthened pretty well in the same general area, 55 sounds reasonable but 75 is possible, especially if it sits or drifts.
