Number 9...Number 9...Number 9

#1 Postby LowMug » Thu Aug 26, 2004 8:20 pm

Frances is beginning to take on the classic number 9 shape indicating that extreme intensification is occurring due to rapid pressure drop and good outflow in all quadrants. We should soon (12-24 hrs) begin to see the comma shape indicating a major hurricane is at hand.

By the way Number 9 is perhaps the worst Beatles song ever written...

In the last IR loop, there appears to be an eye, or eye-like feature,
that is drowned ou by a massive burst of convection. I do believe
we'll have a major hurricane in 36-48 hours, if not sooner.

According to the latest 11:00 discussion -

". . . and there have been
hints of an eye...or warm spot...on the infrared images."

I guess it was an error earlier.

Look for a major hurricane by tomorrow mid-day. Two strong outflow jets (especially the one to the north), and a tight eye. Only thing preventing Frances from bombing out is the outflow is still a little restricted to the E.
