Request in for IR Floater refocus, but.....

#1 Postby dixiebreeze » Sat Aug 21, 2004 11:26 am

it probably won't happen until Monday morning, given no one works on weekends at the floater headquarters. Why do the tropics always start jumping on weekends??!!

Looks to me like the Caribbean wave might make Frances status before the COA wave -- depending on increasingly favorable winds.

Actually, Floater 2 can't be refocused until the COA wave is much farther west.

Kevin, it is the "headquarters" that moves the satellite images, so that we see a system
in a specific area of the the Atlantic Basin and eastern Pacific as it moves along.

The National Hurricane Center has two of them on their website for the visible, infrared,
shortwave IR, Dvorak IR and water vapor images and loops.

Correct, ColdFront, "headquarters" was a rather ambitious term
