Tropical Weather Outlook

Statement as of 10:30 PM EDT on August 16, 2004

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico...
The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane
Danielle...located in the eastern tropical Atlantic about 1380
miles southwest of the Azores.

A tropical wave...the remnants of Tropical Storm Earl...is
generating winds to tropical storm force along with showers and
thunderstorms in the central Caribbean Sea. This system has not
become any better organized this evening and continues moving
rapidly westward at about 30 mph. An Air Force Reserve unit
reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the remnants of
Earl tomorrow morning. Additional information on this system can be
found in high seas forecasts issued by the National Weather
Service... under AWIPS header nfdhsfat1 and wmo header fznt01 kwbc.

Another tropical wave is producing showers and thunderstorms about
300 miles south of the Cape Verde Islands. This system is currently
poorly organized but some slow development is possible over the
next few days.
Elsewhere...tropical storm formation is not expected through
Wednesday.
