How have "Tropical Round Table," "Eye on the Storm," "Talkin' Tropics," and "Barometer Bob Show's" live broadcasts been getting so many listeners?
I suppose people are simply doing searching for "NHC" on search engines in order to find the information.
How are people finding the S2K associated broadcasts?

I email links for live breaking news streams to coworkers all the time. I know all around where I work, people were watching nbc-2.com during the landfall. There were probably people listening to the earlier broadcasts of the Round Table also. Not sure about at night though, during the regular evening broadcasts.

Good question CF...I often wonder that myself.
I think part of the ratings come from a core group of listeners who will always listen. I don't know how many of those we have with Talkin Tropics...but I would be one of those...I can't find enough info on the tropics.
We have a large contingent of unregistered viewers of posts here...I would venture a guess that we get a good 200 to 300 folks from here when things are busy...at least...
Guests attract new listners who want to hear the broadcast too...Mark
Sudduth pointed a lot of new listeners our way.
Plus...I had at least 10 friends and or relatives listening last week...including...sigh...my parents...so word of mouth plays a big part.
Finally..there are a lot of people with a lot to say...including some very well known people who havent had an outlet to discuss the details we get into.
Again good question...we verify individual ip addresses to reconcile out numbers....Dr O would be able to better answer that question...when he gets his power back.

Very interesting question though! It'll be interesting Tom to see some of the other answers.
I wouldn't think too many people would hear the broadcast and tell people that readily, but I guess that's just me.

Those that watch that station are aware of the NHCWX.com broadcasts?

Thank you, Mike! Sorry I didn't get back to this topic sooner; not only that, but good to give the thread a good bump up (with an updated title)
My question is even more interesting and perhaps important aside from the fact that some of your ideas sound logical.
I heard you mention that your parents found the broadcast on the air. I have similar feeling about taking part with my parents in the other room. It will take me time, but I may have more to add vocally.
I look forward to hearing what Dr. O has to say...

Word of Mouth advertising is a key. Also what kind of content you offer your listeners plays a big role in bringing people back. Having reliable data, which I believe we do, also builds the element of trust for what we are doing!
Great job all!! I have been honored to be a part of some of these broadcasts!!

Hey Tom,
It looks like word of mouth is working, but as you know s2k has over 2000 members and we should have even more listeners.
We plan on running advertisement later in the season so our numbers should increase. Also for example "the datacenter techs pick up a stream and play it on their sound system with at least 40 listeners but we only register 1" and with relays it is hard to say how many listners are behind them. Our numbers are good for no advertising, but could be better.
