In 1945 TWO hurricanes came very close to the JAX area, Hurricane 1 and Hurricane #9
Then we have Hurricane #5 in 1946:
Passed just to the West of the JAX area -- Made Landfall near TB.
Hurricane EASY in 1950 was another that passed very close to the JAX area though wakened to a TS after making landfall as a CAT 3 storm Just north of the Tampa area:
Hurricane King was another Passed just west of JAX
Hurricane Donna in 1960 came very close.
Then we have Cleo and Dora in 1963
Hurricanes Abby and Gladys in 1968 (abby weakened to a TS)
Hurricane David skimmed the coast as a CAT 2 – again coming close to JAX.
remember just because the eye or the center of a storm does not pass DIRECTLY over you head does not mean that you will not be significantly affected by it.
