On my way to ground zero

#1 Postby david1 » Sun Aug 15, 2004 9:20 am

I’m on the State Damage Assessment Team (D.A.T). I’m leaving for Tally today and meet with FEMA at 7:30 AM Monday. We’ll go to ground zero Monday afternoon. I’ll be there for 15 days.
If I have access to internet I will report some info here. From what I understand we are staying in a hotel with no power, should be interesting.

Paul,
Tons of help is on the way. They will get assistance very quickly as in food and money. Give me their address and I will try to check on them.

Best of luck with the tremendous amount of work that you will be facing.

Paul, I'm glad to hear that your niece is alright. I'm sorry to read about their loss, however.

Are you going to Punta Gorda? Orlando is in really rough shape too. The damage isn't quite as terrible as the landfall zone, but we are hugely populated here.

D.A.T. will be going to Orlando. As of now, I'm going to Punta Gorda.
Community Relief Teams should start show up very soon(Tues. Or Wed.). It takes a little time to get set up.
