Survived Charley
Charley was a lot more powerful than I expected it to be by the time it got here.Last night was wild, the wind howling, debris hitting the windows IT WAS A THRILL.But the most scary part was seeing all the destruction the morning after.I looked down the street and all the powerline poles were lying in the road.Tree limbs were everywhere, along with a bunch of debris on the ground.A oak tree was blown over in my backyard, along with a tall palm tree in my front yard,I like that tree
My roof was almost ripped off,it suffered a lot of damage. This morning it rained and the rain was going through the roof into the house, everything in my house was soaked! That's why this afternoon I got a room at The Pop Century Resort at disney World,i'm going to stay here for at least tonight. Then I have to start cleaning the mess
possibly...the worst part of the storm
But seriously,my thoughts and prayers go out to those in the path of this storm that wern't as lucky as I was
I was very shocked and sad to find out how many homes and lives were lost in this storm.

Charley held together remarkedly well last night, and the very tight eye maintained its structure almost all the way during its trek across Central Florida ...
I hope your cleanup and everything goes smoothly and you (and your family) can get back to normal ASAP ... and definitely glad to hear from you and that you're ok ...

Reporting in from Volusia County .. Luckily, Charley had weakened considerably bythe time he reached our doorstep, but he still left quite a mess. Power is out all over the place, trees down, lines in the road, but compared to the areas hit before us, we were very lucky. I lost a 60' tree that landed smack between my house and my neighbor with the precision of a professional tree service company.. 10 feet either way and we would have had major damage!
Thanks Storm 2k... advice received from fellow posters spurred myself and many many friends and coworkers to prepare long before Volusia County FINALLY put the word out!!

That season happened to be my first hurricane season too!I had just moved from Nashville,TN.The reason for moving to Kissimmee was because I was getting tired of Pensacola beach and I have always loved this part of Florida, so I decided to move down here.
