No quicker than any other time: as slow as molasses with lots and lots of promises.

Our nation is broke** (in fact the Government will likely be told it is broke and cannot borrow any more in a month or two), but they will still squeeze out the funds needed for Florida.

**In a letter sent to Capitol Hill leaders, Snow said the debt subject to the $7.384 trillion limit will be hit "between late September 2004 and early October 2004." Even if the government takes certain accounting maneuvers to stay beneath the ceiling, as it has done in the past, Snow said, "we can finance government operations no longer than mid-to-late November 2004."

i gotta think that with brother jeb as governor and the presidency at stake, g.w. must visibly come thru (not just promises) for florida on this storm damage. many voters are going to think twice about voting for him come november if they are still waiting to get back in their homes and he knows that.

Looking Presidential

This also gives GWB the chance to "look presidential".

Wonder if Kerry will show up in the next few days too?

Don't you worry - he'll be there. Based on your information, I would expect that he's now going to wait until something doesn't go right and jump on GWB with both feet.

1992, when Andrew hit, was an election year too. George Senior was president and he
came to visit, but Clinton did not. He didn’t want to bring more havoc into an area all
ready under extreme stress. It takes a lot of preparation for the president to visit and it
pulls manpower from where it is needed. Maybe Bush should stay away so the people can
concentrate on helping those in need and not helping some politician get votes.

GalevestonDuck wrote: just got in and flipped on the TV and Fox had Geraldo on. Love Fox News, but I can't get the tabloid-host image of Geraldo out of my head long enough to watch him. Hit the remote to MSNBC but they were talking about GPS in cars or something. Flipped to TWC and it was a commercial. Tried CNN and they were talking to (Senator?) Foley about the damage in Punta Gorda. I was walking around doing other stuff while I listened. The news anchor mentioned something about Kerry criticizing Bush for going to FL so immediately after Charley and also something about Kerry saying he wouldn't campaign in FL.

EXCUSE ME???? Does he not think the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES should go to visit and support the people of a state so horribly devastated at this time? He's NOT going there to campaign, you ignorant flip-flopping moron!

I was just appalled when I heard that!

The moron. Im really tired of this. BUSH Should go and support those people. He must make sure things are going right. As he will.

Sure didn't take long for Kerry to jump Bush over this Hurricane. Amazing. I figured it would take at least a couple of days.
