New Damage Info on Captiva Island

#1 Postby montrealboy » Sat Aug 14, 2004 8:40 am

nbc-2 is reporting thru the Sarasota Herald Tribune that upper Captiva Island has 160 homes destroyed and 160 homes damaged. Also, Captiva Island has been split in half with a new water stream in middle created by Charley.

My uncle just had his house built in Rotunda, FL. About a few mile north of Captiva Island. I'm sure his house has some damage. Fortunately he's in VA now. But now VA has a TS warning. And the house he's in now is right on the Tidal Potamac. And that house was flooded last year by Isabel when the Potomac flooded. I know he's probably thinking living newar water is becoming a bad idea. :-)

Very very bad. There is pretty close to total devastation there from the little bit of video I saw. It looked like big expensive houses were demolished. :(

tpa stations have not had any aerial views of coast line, must be some restrictions, all reporting has been from Punta Gorda ne ward, this is on the scale of Andrew, except more widespead and possibly a wide cone.
