I looking at extensive damage in the Tampa area, roughly 100 miles north of landfall.
I can't imagine the devastation further south. This is a huge disaster, and we are just starting to get a glimpse of how bad.
Tampa was on the left side of the highest winds. I had no idea that they could see that much damage that far away.

From the Orlando Sentinel:
Walt Disney World theme parks, as well as Downtown Disney, are scheduled to open on Saturday, August 14, at 9 a.m. Because of the storm however, park officials say it may take a few hours for the areas to become fully operational.
"Like other members of the Central Florida community," states Disney officials, "our property received some damage as a result of Hurricane Charley. While it is too early to assess the total impact of the storm, we would not open unless it was safe for our Guests and Cast. As always the safety of our Guests and Cast Members is our top priority."
All Walt Disney World Cast Members, whether or not their work area is open, should report to work at the appropriate time today if it is safe to do so. Guests who have questions should call (407) WDW-INFO or (407) 939-4636.

They should stay closed at least today...greedy bastards...
Yep, definitely. Weren't they open until 1 pm yesterday?
Makes me feel ashamed to live here....... why don't they take all of their proceeds today and give it to their and other affected communities for relief efforts? WOW, what a concept!

Assuming that the park is safe to open, why not open it exactly? What would you tell some family who has spent maybe thousands to have a Disney Vacation? Well, the Magic Kingdom is OK, but we are keeping it closed because ?????. The poor little children would be heartbroken.
I agree Disney is insanely greedy, but then again, by definition all corporations are. Their sole reason for existing and their primary legal obligation is to make as much money as possible as quickly as possible for their investors. I wouldn't be surprised if they have done some financial analysis of the risk of a lawsuit over some accident vs the loss of a day's income before deciding to open.
