Gonna try something different. Our Mesonet map usually displays temps. On Saturday (maybe Sunday) I'll switch the display to winds speed.
Hopefully this gives an idea of how far inland the winds get (prefer to show rain totals but many home stations can't or are incorrect, so I'll stick with wind). I'll be interested to know if this helps during a storm and ask if you find it useful to shoot email to me from where you're located. Link is on top of the page.
