As soon as it hit water, the organized inner core popped an eye again on IR.

Director of the nhc just said on CNN "well what is left of it the eye wall is gone" radar looked about 2 hours old

Well the Gulf Stream runs up to 40N...as for SSTs being cooler than in the GOM; well Charley's been over land for a few hours now.

just checked buoys off the east coast florida (3 of them) all are between 80 and 82F....

the water is plenty warm...about 82-84 all the way up to the just past the outer banks. BUt I think the speed and sheer will be too much for it strengthen much...maybe a low cat 2 at landfall around Myrtle Beach.

Yes. But its very well sufficent to sustain and strengthen this hurricane even more. I mean my god. Alex got to 105 Mph on this water.
