How I spent the past 24 hours

#1 Postby scogor » Fri Aug 13, 2004 11:01 pm

Hard to believe that just 24 hours ago I was driving up 75 (an easy trip BTW at that time of the night) on to Gainesville fully anticipating that Charley would be impacting my home in Sarasota and/or my daughter's apartment and our accomodations in Gainesville. Was only able to follow the track on and off today but from what I have been able to see, I find it incredibly difficult to conceive that we were somehow spared in both Sarasota and Gainesville while so many areas that I have visited on so many different occasions suffered such horrible devastation. My prayers go out to all of those suffering tonight...we were just incredibly lucky. Hope all of my fellow boarders are safe and sound. We had so little rain and wind in Gainesville--truly a "non-event" while devastation was rampant short distances away. The awesome power of Nature never ceases to amaze. Back to Sarasota tomorrow.
