Sanibel Update

100% damage to all buildings except one: fire station
60% of buildings are demolished


They didn't give a report on injuries.

Did you hear that caller that just called that said he heard on CNN that there were massive casualties on Captiva Islands??

Let's hope it's just someone trying to grab some attention. If that were truly the case, I would think at least the local station - ABC-2 - would have reported something...

the nbc-2 com website does not mention any serious damage to Captiva & Sanibel?!

These are the only mentions I could find.

CAPTIVA

Reports from Captiva: Docks in [dis?]array, 15 to 20 trees across road, power out, minor damage to homes (6:00 pm)


Power outage reports: Lehigh 12,000, Cape Coral: 66,000, many Sanibel residents without power (5:30)

I don't think they have much information yet. Will be many more estimates and reports tomorrow morning.
