#1 Postby Hyperstorm » Fri Aug 13, 2004 1:26 am

FL. level winds 115mph...while over land. Closed eye...while over land. Can we say anything else? NO change from crossing Cuba...as expected.

It crossed the skinniest part of Cuba, and quickly...couldn't have been worse for Floridians. :(

as was fully expected. Cuba has not weakened a hurricane since Camielle and that was probably an eye wall replacement and not the landfall

flight level probally 750 MB so -20%....it definatly picked the skinniest part of cuba to cross and it didnt waste no time so for it to cross 30-40 miles of land w/o decreasing....NO BIG SUPRISE

wayoutfront...if your talking about hurricane hunters not flying in cuban airspace I already brought this up earlier USAF wx planes got a rare agreement to fly this storm...if your talking right over land then previous post while answer that .... I believe each drop tube is about 16 lbs.

F. 046 DEG 085 KT
G. 290 DEG 10 NM

G. Shows that those 85kt winds in F were found 10nm at a bearing of 290deg from the center, in the NW quad.

That would really be the pits, have a near death experience in the storm, and just as you think you will make it, get taken out by a drop tube!
