Are you in an evacuation zone?

This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Are you in an evacuation zone?

#1 Postby southerngale » Thu Aug 12, 2004 4:34 pm

I'd like to get an idea of who all is in an evacuation zone. Also, let us know if you're not in one but evacuating anyway or if you're in one but staying. Please give your location as well.

Thanks!

Well I am staying here in Bonita Springs..as are a few neighbors..I am 6-7 miles inland but along the Estero River which of course it part of Estero Bay...From my experience with Gabrielle in 2001..I expect this to be much worse flooding at least for my location..Other than that I will be fine unless a tornado blows over....Just gotta generator today at Home Depot of course... :D

Just in case you didn't see the other post - power will be cut to Tampa tomorrow - so I bet we don't hear from too many people tomorrow. Those of you who are staying, be safe and if the lights are on, we'll be here waiting to hear how you are. And like someone said, please sign up for the emergency list. Last year it was a week or so before we heard from some of the regulars and our nerves were very frayed from the worry!

I'm not in an official evac zone but we are moving to the center of the county and staying with the in-laws. We're just too close to the water for my comfort. Vicki's mother is 72 years old and we'll all feel better together. :-)

I'm in Pinellas county and not in a mandatory evacuation area (primarily because they FINALLY figured out a few years ago that there is no way to get everyone out of the area in a timely manner).

We are still deciding whether to leave or not, but do have a plan to put into play later tonite or in the wee hours (before the 5am).

My personal feeling has always been that anything that looks to be a cat 3 or higher, we should leave.
