Local Met in Jax

is saying 30 mph winds for us in Jacksonville if the storm follows forcasted track. Does this sound accurate? Any help appreciated, as I run a rescue and have many animals to look out for.

About an hour ago I heard Tim Deegan say 75 mph gusts could be expected when Charley passes through! :eek:

For us, Charley's an issue for tomorrow evening. If this track holds up, we would see winds gusting of 30, possibly 50 mph winds in the Jacksonville area overnight Friday into Saturday morning," Channel 4 Meteorologist John Gaughan said Thursday

On current 11 am nhc track and if it continues to intensify, I think 50 is a pipe dream! A strong cat 3 or weak cat 4 coming in at Tampa with a eye while in western duval county, I think we are looking at worse conditions than that rosey scenario in Jacksonville. Any thoughts weather fans?

No. Jacksonville will likely see hurricane force winds if the projected path pans out.

I'm afraid that if this storm keeps strengthing, we are looking at seeing hurricane force winds here tomorrow afternoon/ evening. Our best hope is if this thing goes to the panhandle but I would not bet my life on it. :( :(

Jacksonville is between the 95 and 50 knots lines...so lets say the winds are 65 knots when it passes through here... that equals 74.9 mph!!! :eek:
That's still like Category 1... Holy Crap! :eek:

Look on the bright side at least we don't have to worry about the storm surge. The St. Johns river and all the tributaries would be cresting and flooding all of Downtown and everything along the way :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:
