Man! 12 billion in damage possible just in the Tampa Bay Area?? Plus, this storm will likely ride the coast causing damage here and there all the way up to New England. Our economy can not afford a 20-30 billion dollar storm. I think it is time for the government to pull out its powerful hurricane eraser weapon. Maybe the Tunguska UFO they just found in Siberia could help.

Click on the first link (sptimes.com article) mentioned in this thread. On that page is a graphic and text that contains a link to the video.

I wonder if Tampa Bay and the Cape Haze pennisula were not just a little shaped by huge 'canes, the 1000 year storms?

I know that bays are created by drowning river valleys, but the "light sculpturing" Like what happens on hatteras and 1935 ocean city Md. inlet being created by a 'cane...

Just wondering. Of course, man made structures would be OBLITERATED in such an event, along with any people unfortunate to evacuate when told.

Charley could be worse than this, given that it's coming in at a much more shallow angle and could pile up more water in the Tampa Bay area.
