Just out of curiosity.. a question/comment

#1 Postby Josephine96 » Thu Aug 12, 2004 11:01 am

Let's say god for bid.. Charlie makes major hurricane status..

One of our local mets here in ORL had said this morning that we should be prepared because there's a good chance we will have hurricane force winds.. especially since we're on the storms' right side..

If the storm reaches major status.. Could I see 95-100 mph winds here inland.. even though I may not be anywhere near the storm's eye since the eye may not pass over me..

I am in Volusia County, and after looking at the some of the models, I am assuming I could get strong tropical storm winds ( even possible low Cat1). .... despite the fact the Volusia County Emergency Management is only on "partial alert"... I'm not -removed-, just assuming the worst case scenario until proven wrong. I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised Saturday morning when I can move my lawn furniture and plants out of the garage and mow my lawn.

TY aimless.. and by the way stay safe..

I'm expecting the worst here.. being on the storms' right side is probably going to be a bumpy ride...

Nobody thinks you're -removed- Aimless. Anyone near the path of Charley has reason to be concerned...don't hesitate to ask any questions!!

Yes! 90-100 mph winds(especially gusts) are likely.

Navy provides a nice map of the NHC's forecast. Shows where hurricane force and tropical storm force winds are forecasted.

http://152.80.49.216/tc-bin/tc_home.cgi

Of course the map is only as good as the NHC's forecast
