I just hope that residents in harms way take Charley very very seriously.

I can believe the politics of the storm.

My father-in-law lives in Indian Rocks Beach, near Tampa. We've stayed at his condo at least 6 times thru the years. Since we traveled in June or early July, I can remember reading lots of local articles in the paper, about Hurricane prep going on for Tampa Bay, etc.. I also remember an article stating that for residents along the beaches, they were paired up with residents inland to stay with in case of emergencies/evacuations. I was impressed to say the least. Tampa Bay take this threat lightly? I don't think so either!
BTW, my father-in-law is traveling in the Midwest with family right now (at International Falls, of all places). So he's in the clear.

ah...no Brent. I was asking a legitimate question.
I think Brent was meaning you have to be kidding about Tampa Bay taking no precautions right now.
That's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion. I can't believe the apathy of some people.

Thanks for clearing that up Brent. Sorry I took it wrong. Truth is, the people are probably not apathetic as opposed to waiting for their leadership to make the call as to whether or not to evacuate.
Scary that they may have past the point of no return. It is not possible to insure the safety of evacuees and certianly not possible to guarentee the safety of those who stay put.
Sad...
