This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Question about east Orlando

#1 Postby southeastva » Thu Aug 12, 2004 7:38 am

First I want to say that I enjoy reading everyones posts. I know very little about what drives the weather but am completely fascianted by it. My question is, my my 76 year old grandmother and my aunt live in east Orlando in a retirement mobile home park. How bad is it going to get there? Should they plan on going elsewhere? Also, I am in Hampton Roads, VA. What should we expect to see up here. We are all pretty nervous because Isabel is fresh in our minds. She was a category 1 and the devastation in some places here was unreal. I was lucky and only had to deal with no power for 6 days.
Thanks again and keep up the great posts.

She needs to get out of the mobile home. The track of the storm is uncertain, but there will at least be wind gusts approaching hurricane force and also the threat of isolated tornadoes. Even in 50-60 mph winds, you don't want to be in a mobile home. She needs to be in a sturdy shelter.

As for you in Virginia... it will NOT be another Isabel, but there could be some gusty winds. The main threat will be heavy rain, however.

Watch the path today make a decision and do it. Trailer homes are a no no. Right front quandrant has the tornados. Good luck these next couple days.
