For clarification, there is a difference between someone saying, "What will the conditions be in S. FL", and saying, "Charley taking a shorcut to Florida", when a look at SAT clearly shows it is not, and heading west. That is "hoping" for a storm to come your way, not a "concerned" question. I feel that is the way the majority interpreted that post...

I am gladyour done. Some of us don't want any storm. We are already flooded here and my mother lives on the water in a manufactured home. To hope we get blown away is both very rude and uncalled for. But i am sure you know that!!sea oat wrote:it has a lot to do with. keep building your concrete communities i hope they get blown away. Charley won't be the one to do knock it down.
i respect the mets that do post here but you people I disagree with and "know-it-alls" have no freaking clue.
i'm done and greetings from the panhandle of florida

I think I do a good job of not "-removed-" when on forecast duty. But I must tell you, in August 1986 I happened to be in the eye of Charley when he passed over my house here on the Outer Banks. Since that time, I have been through many hurricanes, but unfortunately, not one has passed "directly" overhead as did Charley so many moons ago.
I'm not afraid to admit it, I want this storm. Right hook baby!

The original question was "Is Charley taking a shortcut?". There are many people who read and post here that are not experts or even knowledgable enthusiasts. What we want to have is an environment where people aren't afraid to ask any question without fear of being made fun of. As a co-owner and administrator of this site that has been our pledge from the beginning of this site two years ago. We're deadly serious about it and we do enforce our rules.

Hey man ... I think you've very much proven your credentials with the Fabian forecast last year ... beautiful call on that from 5-6 days out ...
BTW...the elongation in the cloud pattern to the NW is a tell tell sign that the NW turn is close at hand.
The upper low to the west of Charley certainly could be aiding in that elongation ... but I also feel that a poleward turn is about to begin soon ...
