What to expect #2

Experts:
What do you think my area should expect from both Bonnie & Charley? I live 60 mi. east of Cedar Key near Gainesville. Do ya'll think that N.central Florida will feel effects from them both? and if so to what extreme?

Best thing you can do is go to your NWS web site and see what they are forecasting for your area. They usually break it down nicely. But, from Bonnie you may get some squalls unless she heads more toward Cedar Key in which case you'd see some 40-50 mph winds with maybe some gusts to 60mph.

With Charley you could see substantially heavier rain and higher winds, maybe close to hurricane force, alot will depend on exactly where Charley landfalls and just how strong he is at that time. If his center passes to your west expect the worst.

Dean, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, there is no real info. other than to expect rain tomorrow (3 - 10" - big gap there wouldn't you say?) and 'stay tuned' for updates. I work 30 miles away and drive I-75 every day. I hate to think that I drive all the way to UF tomorrow and Bonnie takes a 'jog' to the west before it's anticipated track which I know is very possible when it comes to these kinds of storms. I-75 is bad on a good day! but when we have heavy rains, it is horrible. I am more concerned about Friday but I guess time will tell. UF did send out a broadcast email to remind us all to have our hurricane preparations ready....but that was about it. This is a typical response around this area because of the politics that are involved in closing a university...although it is break between the semesters. Hopefully, there will be more info. in the morning but I am not holding my breath......
