UNSEASONABLE POLAR COLD FRONTS

This will be another UNSEASONABLE COLD front to push all the way into North Texas by Wednesday, and some have even made it to the Gulf Coast. As a result we here in the D/FW area will see more rain with much cooler temps Thursday thru Saturday with highs only reaching the mid 80's and overnight lows dipping into the mid to lower 60's making things feel more like late Sept/Early Oct. rather then mid August, won't be surprised to see record lows and minium high temps Wednesday night thur Firday morning in parts of north TX.

In all this has been a rather mild almost cool summer for us, only having one offical 100* day recorded at DFW airport. We have seen record rainfall for both June and July totaling around 24" inches for the two months.

With the cooler temps and the high soil mositure that we have had this summer and with fall just around the corner how do you see winter shapping up for N.TX??

IMO: I think this winter will be a mixed bag of tricks, with more artic cold spells with Polar fronts coming down from the northern and Canaidian rockies, an active southern jetstrem setting up, 1 or 2 ice storms, and 1 big snow event after Jan 1.

All in all I think this winter will be much colder and wetter then last year for North Texas.

I'm quite aways north of you and we've had one day hit 90...numerous nights have dropped down to 48-50 in June, July, and i'm sure either tonite or tomorrow nite will too...I fear this upcoming winter! We've had a lot of rain also--quite a turn around from the mild drought we had beginning in early July through the fall of last year....A pattern change is needed before WINTER!---

Well Frank, I know you get your share of Winter Wx but it's us folks way down South that want some of what you get on a regular basis. Our Wx pattern has been somewhat of a wet and mild one this summer, I know that 86 to 96 don't seem mild but when you compare it to our usual 97 to 102 temps and Dry Wx we see late June thru July and August it's a BIG difference.

The normal High presure system that rules over Texas and brings our Hot Wx during the summer has been weak and has moved several times off to the west, which has alowed for the UNSEASONABLE cold front's to push all the way into North Texas, and has cause the UNSEASONABLE dry condictions over AZ and western NM shutting off their monsoonal rains.

Much of the East and N. East has seen cooler than normal temps as well this summer. The question is will this Wx patteren or transition continue into Fall and Winter??

I can't wait for late Fall and Winter and the great debate on what will come.
