still 98w for NRL and JTWC


but for PAR is Tropical Storm Karen

another test of the jb typhoon rule. if it doesnt recurve, a ridge should be in the east

PASAGA names any tropical system, regardless of strength, that is close to the Philippines without using a standard WPAC name. This is common.
